Three drivers were arrested during a DUI Checkpoint on July 12 in the city of Perris.
Held on Perris Boulevard between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m., the operation resulted in 45 citations issued for violations such as driving with a suspended/revoked license or without a license and three arrests for DUI.
More than 900 vehicles were contacted, 77 vehicles were subject to secondary screening, seven field sobriety tests were conducted, and seven vehicles were towed, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
