A woman accused of kidnapping a three-year-old child from a Temecula residence was arrested on Thursday after a police chase that ended in the 32100 block of Temecula Parkway.
On April 14 at 10:53 a.m., Southwest Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to the 29600 block of Solana Way regarding a father who reported his three-year-old child missing. The father said his vehicle and the vehicle’s key were also missing from the residence, authorities said.
Assisted by a bloodhound, deputies searched the surrounding areas but did not locate the child.
At 1:45 p.m., a deputy located the missing vehicle traveling on Sage Road in the unincorporated area of Aguanga and attempted to perform a traffic stop. The driver failed to yield.
The driver, 52-year-old Jessica Emily Reichert, eventually stopped the vehicle in the 32100 block of Temecula Parkway in the City of Temecula. The child was located in the vehicle.
Reichert was arrested and charged with kidnapping a child under the age of 14, vehicle theft, and other related charges. Her bail was set at $100,000, according to jail records.
It is believed Reichert is not related to the child, authorities said.
