Toxic algae reaches ‘danger’ level at Lake Elsinore

Based on recent lab results from lake water sampling and guidance from the California State Water Board, the City of Lake Elsinore announced, effective immediately, current levels of toxins from algae warrant the posting of a “Danger” advisory.

Based on this level of advisory, the city is advising lake users to stay out of the water until further notice, including boating and other water recreation activities.

People should also keep their pets out of the water and not eat fish caught in the lake, the city warned.

The city said it will continue to test the water on a weekly basis and will post regular updates on the lake conditions as lab results are received.
