A routine traffic stop led to a major narcotics and firearms bust on Saturday, June 21, when the Hemet Special Enforcement Team detained a man with multiple felony warrants and discovered a stash of fentanyl and illegal weapons.
The traffic stop occurred in the 41000 block of Beachwood Avenue, where deputies identified 24-year-old Andrew Green of Hemet as a passenger. According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Green had two outstanding felony warrants related to narcotics sales.
Green was detained and allegedly found to have multiple plastic bags of fentanyl in his possession. The investigation at the traffic stop prompted a search warrant at Green’s residence.
During a search of Green’s home, deputies discovered several more bags containing fentanyl, along with numerous items consistent with narcotics sales. Deputies also discovered 14 firearms, including unregistered pistols, a short-barreled automatic rifle, unregistered AR-15 rifles, a stolen AR-15, black powder rifles, and antique shotguns. As a convicted felon, Green is prohibited from accessing firearms.
Green was arrested and booked into jail at the Cois Byrd Detention Center on suspicion of fentanyl sales and multiple weapons violations.
The Hemet Special Enforcement Team is seeking any information regarding the possibility that some of these firearms may have been stolen from unreported thefts.
