Twelve teams battle it out in Canyon Lake Bassmasters monthly club tournament

Twelve teams battled it out in the Canyon Lake Bassmasters monthly club tournament on Saturday, May 6.

Veteran Bassmasters Mark White and Steve Baker reeled in first place with 17.72 lbs. of bass. Closely behind in second place was the team of Damon Hole and Casey Engel with 17.68 lbs.

Mark Bowman and Cole Crockett rounded out the top three with 17.23 lbs.

The “Big Fish” of the tournament was a 5.06-pound bass weighed in by the second place team of Hole and Engel.

Fish caught during the tournament are released back into the lake.

Canyon Lake residents who enjoy fishing and want to improve their skills in a friendly, competitive environment are invited to join the Bassmasters Club. Monthly fishing tournaments are held from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the first Saturday that follows the first Wednesday. Summer tournaments are held from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. For more information, contact Chuck Moreno at 951-837-5941.
