A total of 25 drivers were cited during a Menifee DUI Checkpoint on Saturday, June 13. The checkpoint was held from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. near the intersection of Scott Road and Lindenberger Road.
During the checkpoint, deputies screened 767 drivers. One driver was arrested for DUI, eight drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license, and 17 drivers were cited for various driving violations.
Checkpoint locations are based on a history of crashes and DUI arrests. The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests, but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired.
The Menifee Police Department will hold another DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint on September 26. Funding for this checkpoint was provided by the California Highway Patrol Cannabis Grant.
