Deputies screened 376 vehicles during a DUI Checkpoint on August 29 in the City of Perris.
Held at Redlands Avenue and San Jacinto Avenue between 8 p.m. and 1 a.m., the operation resulted two drivers arrested for DUI and eight drivers cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license. Sixteen citations were issued.
Twenty-five vehicles were subject to secondary screening. Ten field sobriety tests were conducted, and 1 vehicle was towed.
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
