Riverside County Sheriff’s Southwest Station deputies screened 820 vehicles during a DUI Checkpoint on Friday, September 11.
Held from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Rancho California Road and Margarita Road in the City of Temecula, the checkpoint resulted in eight drivers being cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license and two drivers being arrested for driving under the influence.
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off the roads.
Funding for this checkpoint is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
