Two females and multiple household pets perished in an early-morning residential fire on December 20 in the 41000 block of Knight Drive in the City of Murrieta.
Murrieta Fire & Rescue (MFR) responded to the blaze around 4:45 a.m. and found a mobile home fully involved, with flames extending to a carport, three vehicles, two outbuildings, and a large pine tree.
Firefighters launched an aggressive fire attack while simultaneously searching for trapped occupants. Despite their efforts, the structural integrity of the residence rapidly deteriorated, forcing fire crews to transition to a defensive firefighting operation. The fire was brought under control within approximately 45 minutes.
According to MFR, five individuals were inside the residence at the time of the fire. Three of the individuals were transported to a local hospital. Two individuals and multiple household pets perished in the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
