Two injured in gas explosion at Lake Elsinore’s Diamond Stadium

Two contractors were injured in a natural gas explosion on Friday at Lake Elsinore’s Diamond Stadium. The contractors were installing equipment when the blast occurred around 4:20 p.m.

Both victims suffered moderate burns and were transported to a local hospital. “The players and staff sustained no injuries and the damages were isolated to a very small area within the new building,” the stadium said in a statement.

In addition to first responders, SoCal Gas technicians were also at the scene.

The incident prompted the cancelation of the games scheduled for Friday and Saturday against the Inland Empire 66ers. Tickets to either game can now be used as a ticket voucher for a future Storm game.
