Two 18-year-old residents of Murrieta have been arrested on suspicion of selling vape pens containing concentrated cannabis to minors.

During the month of February, the Southwest Sheriff’s Station learned vape pens, containing concentrated cannabis, were being sold to juveniles who attend middle schools and high schools throughout the City of Temecula and the unincorporated area of French Valley.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the investigation revealed that two 18-year-old residents of Murrieta, Anthony Harry Mathisen and Catherine Hickisch, sold vape pens containing concentrated cannabis to minors.

It was determined Mathisen and Hickisch distributed concentrated cannabis and psilocybin (commonly referred to as mushrooms) using a mobile delivery service, identified through social media as “AtomicClouds,” the department stated in a news release.

A search warrant was served at Mathisen’s residence on March 3. Evidence related to the sales of marijuana and psilocybin was located and recovered, the department said. Mathisen and Hickisch were later arrested and booked at the Cois M. Byrd Detention Center on suspicion of narcotics sales and distributing marijuana to a minor. Mathisen and Hickisch are being held in lieu of $1 million bail each, according to jail records.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact Sergeant Michael Perez at the Southwest Sheriff’s Station at 951–696–3000. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department encourages parents to monitor their children’s social media activity for any suspicious activity. Parents who identify nefarious activity, including information related to the distribution of narcotics to children, are encouraged to contact WETIP (800–78-CRIME) or their local law enforcement agency.
