More than 20 volunteers participated in the Yacht Club’s Lake Cleanup on Saturday, September 12. Boats spent hours circling the entire shoreline while volunteers used pool nets and other tools to pull debris out of the lake.

According to the chairman of the event, Pete Delia, volunteers collected more than 100 pounds of trash. A parking sign, an off-road tire with rim, and a large, partially submerged branch that could have easily take out an outdrive were some of the more unusual items hauled out of the lake.
The club’s next event will be held on the water this Saturday, September 19, when the club hosts its second “Concert on the Water” from 5 to 7 p.m.
Dubbed “Wastin’ away in Canyon Lake-ville,” the concert will feature a tribute to Jimmy Buffett. This is not a live concert. The music is recorded and played over loudspeakers.

Participating boats will meet at the lodge dock at 5 p.m. and depart at 5:15 p.m. for a leisurely cruise around the main lake. After the cruise, boats will tie up in Catfish Cove in front of the concert boat.
“Bring your food, beverages, swimsuits, floaties, and Aqua Lily pads,” said Vice Commodore Ron Wilbur. “Dance and sing along or just sit and enjoy the music and the evening with your food and drinks.”
Non-boat owners who wish to participate may contact the Yacht Club at [email protected] to inquire about space availability on one of the Yacht Club boats.
The Yacht Club encourages all participants to follow public health guidelines, including social distancing and masks, when appropriate.
Formed in 1990, the Canyon Lake Yacht Club is comprised of members of all ages and interests. Annual membership is $15. Boat ownership is not required to join the club. The Yacht Club hosts several social and philanthropic events throughout the year and gives back to the community through its community events and student scholarship program.
