Warrant issued for sex offender who cut off mandatory GPS ankle monitor

The Riverside Police Department’s Sex Registrant Compliance Unit issued a public safety alert today regarding a known sex offender experiencing homelessness who has an outstanding warrant for his arrest for violating the terms of his parole and sex registration.⁣⁣

Vonnie James, 56, was released from the county jail on July 30 after serving half of his sentence for failing to register as a sex offender and parole violations. James cut off his mandatory GPS ankle monitor four days after his release, according to officials. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

James is six foot one, weighs 210 pounds, and is usually found in Riverside.⁣⁣
