White, Smith win Canyon Lake Bassmasters Club’s first Open Tournament of the season

Experienced anglers Mark White and Travis Smith reeled in first place in the Canyon Lake Bassmasters Club’s first Open Tournament of the 2024 season on Saturday, February 24. Their five best catches weighed in at 24.85 pounds.

Kevin Hugo and Keneti Faagata secured second place with 22.42 pounds of bass.

Third place went to Lee Baker and Scott Marshal, who came to the scales with 19.60 pounds of bass.

Jeremy Duncan landed the day’s biggest fish, a 6-pound bass.

All fish are released back into the lake after weigh-in.

Canyon Lake residents who enjoy fishing and want to improve their skills in a friendly, competitive environment are invited to join the Bassmasters Club. Monthly fishing tournaments are held from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the first Saturday that follows the first Wednesday.
