The Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station screened 722 vehicles during a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and Driver’s License Checkpoint on Saturday, April 30, from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. at Clinton Keith Road and Inland Valley Drive in the City of Wildomar.
Four individuals were arrested for driving under the influence, seven were cited for not having a driver’s license, and four were cited for driving with a suspended driver’s license. One felony arrest warrant was served and nine vehicles were towed. A total of 25 citations were issued, according to the Riverside Sheriff’s Department.
Checkpoint locations are based on a history of crashes and DUI arrests. The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests, but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired.
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
