Woman dies after crashing through wall in Menifee

A 79-year-old Menifee woman was killed in a single-vehicle collision on Thursday, September 12, after her vehicle struck a wall and came to rest in a backyard of a residence.

The crash occurred at approximately 3:34 p.m. at the intersection of Sherman Road and Shadel Road. Arriving officers located a Kia Soul with major damage and found the driver unresponsive. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

According to the Menifee Police Department, preliminary findings indicate that the vehicle was traveling east on Shadel Road and failed to stop for the stop sign at Sherman Road. The vehicle continued east and went over the curb, through a cinderblock wall, and came to rest in the backyard of a residence. Alcohol is suspected to have been a contributing factor in the collision, the Menifee Police Department said.

This investigation is ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has additional information is asked to contact Officer Clay with the Menifee Police Department Traffic Unit at 951-723-1566.
