A woman was killed on Saturday evening after being struck by a vehicle on Railroad Canyon Road near Canyon Lake Drive South in the City of Canyon Lake.
Deputies from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station responded to the scene around 10:22 p.m. after receiving reports of a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. When deputies arrived, they located an adult female in the roadway suffering from significant injuries.
Deputies and paramedics performed life-saving measures. Despite their effort, the woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station Traffic Team responded and assumed the investigation. The westbound lanes of Railroad Canyon Road were temporarily closed.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, alcohol and/or drugs are not believed to be a factor in the collision.
The woman’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
