Work starts on upgrading Moonstone Beach

The POA announced that work started this week on upgrading Moonstone Beach. The beach is located on the north side of the lake at 22322 Whirlaway Ct.

The upgrades include replacing the cracked concrete slabs, creating a pathway from the parking lot to the sitting area, adding stairs down to the dock, replacing barbecues, replacing trash receptacles, and adding new picnic tables.

The parking lot was repaved earlier this year as part of the POA’s 3.4 million dollar Pavement Project that included repaving 15 parking lots and a portion of Canyon Lake Drive North.

The old playground equipment was also removed earlier this year. It will not be replaced with new equipment. According to the POA, the playground is too close to the lake and would require retaining walls on three sides to bring the grade up to ADA code, fencing around all of the equipment, and the removal of three mature trees that provide shading.

Work at Moonstone Beach is anticipated to be completed in early 2021. Residents are asked to use caution while work takes place.
