The Western Riverside Council of Governments (WRCOG) is taking significant strides in enhancing regional mobility with the approval of key transportation projects aimed at reducing traffic congestion and improving safety.
During a recent meeting, WRCOG’s Executive Committee approved funding under the Transportation Uniform Mitigation Fee (TUMF) program for several key roadway improvements to reduce traffic congestion and improve safety across Riverside County. These projects are designed to address both the current demands of a growing population and the long-term infrastructure needs of the region, ensuring a more efficient and safer transportation network for residents.
Among the projects approved is the Gilman Springs Road Widening Project, a critical route connecting SR-60 to Bridge Street in Gilman Hot Springs, which will receive up to $3 million to support planning and right-of-way efforts, easing congestion and improving safety along this busy corridor.
The Butterfield Stage Road Project, serving the Aguanga community and running between Pourroy Road and Auld Road, will be allocated up to $500,000 to lay the groundwork for vital improvements, helping accommodate the area’s growing population.
The Wood Road Widening Project, stretching from Cajalco Road to Krameria Avenue, will see an increase of $947,000, bringing the total funding to $1.347 million, ensuring continued progress on this essential expansion.
In addition, the Rancho California Road-Calle Contento Roundabout Project will receive a substantial $2.6 million increase, bringing its total funding to $5.1 million to improve traffic flow at this key intersection.
The Cajalco Road Widening Project, stretching from Alexander Street to I-215, will receive an additional $3.8 million, raising its total funding to $6.26 million to improve access to one of the region’s busiest roadways.
The I-10/Singleton Road Interchange Project in the City of Calimesa will receive a $3 million increase, bringing its total to $8 million to enhance this connection to the I-10 freeway, further strengthening the region’s transportation network.
Together, these projects represent a step forward in addressing the region’s transportation challenges and laying the foundation for a more connected and efficient future.
