The Canyon Lake Yacht Club created Yacht Club Cares!, a program that assists members during the coronavirus pandemic. Yacht Club Cares! volunteers perform monthly checks on club members to let them know they are not alone and to offer assistance with grocery shopping and running errands.
“Our calls to all members have two objectives. The first is to touch each person and let them know that they have a safety net, we are here them and they’re not alone. We’re not just a club, we’re a family,” said Vice Commodore Ron Wilbur. “The second objective is to be the hands and feet of all club members, especially those who are not able to get out of their home. We try to make sure that everyone who needs it gets a hand during these unsettling times.”
Formed in 1990, the Canyon Lake Yacht Club is comprised of members of all ages and interests. Annual membership is $15. Boat ownership is not required to join the club. The Yacht Club hosts several social and philanthropic events throughout the year and gives back to the community through its student scholarship program.
