For the second consecutive year, the Canyon Lake Yacht Club provided Thanksgiving meals to young mothers transitioning from foster care to independent living. This year, four mothers each received a full Thanksgiving dinner, including a turkey and all the traditional fixings.
Commodore Rob Mora, along with members Lainie Cooney, Caron Young, and Stan Young, personally delivered the meals to the Kamali’i Foster Agency Transitional Housing office in Lake Elsinore.
The meals were funded using restitution funds from a former member of the Yacht Club, who was court-ordered to repay misappropriated club funds. In a show of resilience, the Yacht Club transformed this unfortunate situation into an opportunity to uplift these young mothers as they navigate the challenges of independent living.

The mothers, part of the Kamali’i Foster Family Agency Transitional Housing Placement Program, face obstacles such as securing stable housing, finding employment, and raising their children without a strong support network. By providing these donations, the Yacht Club sent a clear message: these women are supported by their community and not alone in their journey.
Established in 1990, the Canyon Lake Yacht Club continues its mission of giving back through community outreach, student scholarships, social events, and by hosting the annual Parade of Lights.
