To honor the late Councilman Jordan Ehrenkranz, the City of Canyon Lake established the Jordan Ehrenkranz Spirit of Canyon Lake Award.
Every year, one resident who embodies community spirit and gives selflessly of their time and resources to the betterment of the community will be presented with an engraved Spirit Award and will have their name added to a perpetual plaque that hangs on the wall at City Hall. The award will be presented on an annual basis during the State of the City Address.
“Jordan really was Mr. Canyon Lake,” said City Manager Chris Mann. “I can’t think of anyone who loved the community more or who was more involved or more generous of his time and resources to this community over so many years than Jordan.”
Ehrenkranz was a Canyon Lake property owner for more than fifty years and a full-time resident for more than 25 years. He served on the Canyon Lake City Council for more than 12 years, including four terms as mayor. He was reelected in 2020 and is the only council member to be elected for four terms. Prior to that, Ehrenkranz had served on the Canyon Lake Property Owners Association Board for five years. He was appointed president of the board three times.
