A DUI and Driver’s License Checkpoint conducted by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Lake Elsinore Station in the City of Lake Elsinore on Saturday, September 7, resulted in multiple arrests and citations.
The checkpoint was conducted at Riverside Drive and Stadium Way from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m.
During the operation, deputies screened 959 vehicles. The checkpoint led to five arrests for driving under the influence and three misdemeanor warrants served. In addition, deputies issued 58 citations, including 36 for unlicensed drivers and two for suspended licenses. A total of 14 vehicles were towed.
Checkpoints are part of ongoing efforts to enhance public safety by identifying impaired drivers and ensuring that all motorists are properly licensed. Checkpoint locations are chosen based on a history of DUI crashes and arrests.
Funding for this checkpoint is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
