Library Card Sign-Up Month: Unlock the full potential of a library card

As September unfolds, it brings with it a refreshing sense of new beginnings, making it the perfect time to celebrate Library Card Sigu-Up Month.

Since 1987, Library Card Sign-Up Month has been celebrated each September to mark the beginning of the school year. During the month, the American Library Association and libraries unite in a national effort to ensure that every child signs up for their own library card.

For children, a library card can be a gateway to exciting worlds of imagination and learning. Libraries offer programs for young readers such as summer reading programs, book clubs, homework help, and arts and crafts activities.

For adults, a library card not only opens doors to a vast array of information and resources but also connects adults to valuable services and programs.

Riverside County Library System (RCLS) is a public library system with 34 locations, four Library Connect Vans, two museums, and a Creation Station. Library cards are free; replacement cards cost $1. A state-issued ID and proof of current address are required. Children need written permission from a parent or legal guardian.

Patrons can sign up for a library card in person and online. For more information about library cards, locations, or services in Riverside County, visit www.rivlib.net.
