City of Menifee to host bulky item drop-off and mulch giveaway event

The City of Menifee will be hosting a free bulky item drop-off and mulch giveaway event on Saturday, September 21 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., or until bins are full, at Heritage High School at 26001 Briggs Rd.

This free event is open exclusively to Menifee residents. Proof of residency is required.

Residents can also take advantage of unlimited free mulch but must bring their own containers to “scoop and go.”

Acceptable items bulky items for disposal include appliances, air conditioners, barbecue grills, bundled branches, chairs, computers, mattresses (limit three per vehicle), microwaves, patio furniture, televisions, and tires without rims (limit four per vehicle), to name a few.

Non-acceptable items include bleach and tile cleaners, construction waste, empty drums, engines and motor parts, explosives and ammunition, fertilizer and herbicides, fluorescent tubes, gasoline and diesel fuel, hazardous and infectious waste, latex and oil paints, medications, motor oil, pool chemicals, propane tanks, and sharps.

No commercial waste will be accepted.

The city is also seeking community volunteers to assist with loading items and directing traffic in the event area. For more information or to volunteer, contact the Community Services Department at 951-723-3880.

Residents who can’t make this drop-off event are entitled to four free bulky item pick-ups annually. To schedule a pick-up, contact Waste Management Customer Service at 800-423-9986.
