The Lake Elsinore and San Jacinto Watersheds Authority (LESWA) has announced that no alum application will be applied to Canyon Lake this spring, based on current monitoring data and established treatment criteria.
According to LESWA, recent water quality conditions, including low phosphorus levels, do not meet the thresholds required to trigger treatment. As a result, the application of alum, often used to control harmful algal blooms, is not deemed necessary at this time.
LESWA and the Nutrient Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) Task Force will continue to monitor water quality in Canyon Lake and will coordinate with partners, including Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District and the Canyon Lake Property Owners Association, to better understand factors that may influence lake conditions.
