Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station deputies will be out on Thursday, May 7, looking for drivers suspected of driving under the influence (DUI). The Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station serves the cities of Lake Elsinore, Canyon Lake, and Wildomar.
Drivers caught driving impaired and charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.
“Driving under the influence is a preventable crime that continues to put lives at risk.” Corporal Hadeen said. “Our DUI saturation patrols are focused on removing impaired drivers from the road and ensuring everyone makes it home safely.”
Riverside County Sheriff’s Department reminds the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol. Some prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving. While medicinal and recreational marijuana are legal, driving under the influence of marijuana is illegal.
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
