More than 2,500 community members attended the Lake Elsinore inaugural Firefighters BBQ on Saturday, May 2, at Launch Point.
Hosted by the City of Lake Elsinore, in partnership with CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department, this family-friendly event featured an afternoon of food, live demonstrations, water fun, and opportunities to connect with local firefighters and first responders.
Attendees enjoyed free barbecue meals, explored fire engines and emergency response equipment, and watched live demonstrations hosted by CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department personnel.
Families met firefighters, learned about fire safety and emergency response, and got an up-close look at the tools used in the field. Children climbed aboard fire apparatus, interacted with firefighters, and participated in hands-on activities throughout the afternoon.
The event also featured a 50/50 raffle benefiting the Burn Institute, supporting programs focused on burn survivor recovery, fire prevention education, and community outreach.
“This was a great opportunity to come together with the community in a fun and relaxed setting,” CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department Division Chief Dustin Reed said. “We are grateful for the community’s support and appreciate the opportunity to spend the day with families for connection, entertainment, and engagement with our firefighters.”
The Firefighters BBQ will return next year as an annual community event.
