For four decades, Debby Gagnon has been packing, wrapping, and posting in the Canyon Lake community.
Gagnon recently celebrated the 40th anniversary of Pack, Wrap, & Post with a small gathering. City council members attended the celebration and presented her with a certificate in recognition of her longtime service to the community. The Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce honored Gagnon with a commemorative plaque, presented by President Johnny Pineda.
Before opening Pack, Wrap, & Post, Gagnon was part of the independent insurance adjusting firm located in the Canyon Lake Towne Center. At the time, Mail World was located next to her office. When the owner of Mail World decided to close his business, he asked Gagnon if she would be interested in taking over his 12 mailboxes. She agreed—a decision that would shape the next 40 years of her career.
Although Pack, Wrap & Post got its start in 1986 with the initial 12 mailboxes from Mail World, it was not until June 1, 1995, that it became an official United States Contract Postal Unit.
Today, Pack, Wrap & Post offers more than 200 mailbox rentals, including certified and international mail services, registered mail, notary services, stamps, packing and shipping supplies, document scanning, and more.
For Gagnon, it has always been about being a small business owner and giving back to the community. Over the years, Gagnon has helped organize numerous annual events, including the city’s Veterans Day Celebration and the Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce’s Oktoberfest and Parade of Frights events. For Memorial Day and Veterans Day, Gagnon decorates the Towne Center Veterans Memorial Park with more than 100 American flags in honor of those who served.
In 2005, the Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce named Pack, Wrap & Post Business of the Year. In 2008, Gagnon was recognized as Volunteer of the Year.
In May 2021, the Canyon Lake City Council recognized Gagnon as Citizen of the Month. In 2022, the Canyon Lake Property Owners Association selected Gagnon as the grand marshal of Canyon Lake’s Fiesta Day Parade.
“It has been an incredible journey, one that encompasses so many people who have contributed to making Pack, Wrap, and Post what it is today,” Gagnon said. “Forty awesome years of being so lucky to still be in business, and thanks to the great community of Canyon Lake for making it so.
