On December 13, Canyon Lake Battalion Chief Michael Samuels updated the public with the department’s monthly reports for November.
Station 1 responded to 88 calls in November. They include seven fire responses, 62 rescue/EMS incidents, seven service calls, eight good intent calls, and four false alarms.
The seven fire responses include two structure fires, one vegetation fire, one illegal bonfire, one camp fire on BLM land, one dumpster fire, and one tree fire.
The average dispatch to en route response time was 0.40 minutes, en route to arrival time was 5.24 minutes, and dispatch to arrival time was 5.51 minutes. These times represent the average of all CODE 3 EMS responses in the city. They do not include auto/mutual aid incidents.
The 90 percent fractile dispatch to en route response time was 1.07 minutes, en route to arrival time was 7.41 minutes, and dispatch to arrival time was 8.02 minutes.
Riverside County/Cal Fire responded to the City of Canyon Lake nine times in November. Canyon Lake engines responded to 11 incidents outside the city. They include eight in Lake Elsinore, two in Good Hope, and one in Menifee.
So far this year, Riverside County/Cal Fire responded to 89 incidents in the City of Canyon Lake. Canyon Lake has responded to 160 incidents outside the city.
A Shift trained 28 hours, B Shift trained 31 hours, and C Shift trained 33 hours. Training in November focused on hose evolutions, low-angle rope rescue, attic fire simulations, master streams, ventilation, and helicopter operations with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Community outreach and education in November included the city’s Veterans Day event, Pickleball Courts Ribbon-Cutting, Senior Center Holiday Boutique, POA’s Tree Lighting, and the city’s Turkey Drive.
