Canyon Lake residents are invited to give the gift of a Thanksgiving meal by donating to the city’s 10th annual Frozen Turkey and Food Drive on Thursday, November 18, from 2 to 4 p.m. at City Hall, 31516 Railroad Canyon Rd.

Residents who are not able to drop off their donations at the designated time may call or text Mayor Pro Tem Jeremy Smith at 949-231-0476 to arrange for their donations to be picked up on the day of the drive.

Suggested donations include frozen turkey, whole frozen chicken, stuffing mix and gravy mix, canned mushroom soup, canned green beans, canned yams and brown sugar, miniature marshmallows, cornbread mix, hot chocolate and coffee, cake and cookie mix, non-perishable items, and other items of choice.

The food collected will be donated to Helping Hands Group, a Canyon Lake-based organization that serves the cities of Canyon Lake, French Valley, Hemet, Lake Elsinore, Menifee, Moreno Valley, Murrieta, Perris, Temecula, and Wildomar.

More than 80 turkeys and 70 to 80 bags of fixings were donated last year, allowing the community’s most vulnerable residents to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal.
