Canyon Lake resident Jamie Prichard is just getting started when it comes to building props.
A “Stranger Things” fan, Prichard built a seven-foot Demogorgon for Halloween. She was so pleased with how it turned out that she offered it up for sale to make a little extra money for the holidays. Not only did the buyer purchase her Demogorgon, but he ordered seven more. That sale led to the start of a new business venture for Prichard.
After the sale of her Demogorgon, Prichard got busy on her next project — a life-size Nutcracker, which she built using cardboard, wood, and PVC. The project took her about three days to complete.
This time, instead of Prichard waiting for a buyer to come to her, she reached out to Christmas City Markets, a company that hosts events featuring oversized props. Prichard made the sale, along with an order for an additional Nutcracker.
Prichard’s Nutcrackers will be featured along with more than 120 props ranging from 10 to 35 feet tall at the Lighting Wonderland holiday event from December 15 through December 30 at Diamond Stadium.
“Never did I imagine that this would be the next chapter in my life,” Prichard said. “I really enjoy making props, and I hope to create a lot more of them.”
