A report of a male armed with a rifle prompted a search of the Temecula Promenade Mall on Monday.
At about 10:47 a.m., deputies from the Riverside Sheriff’s Southwest Station, along with the Riverside Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau, responded to a report of a male armed with a rifle who was seen walking into the Temecula Promenade Mall located in the 40000 block of Winchester Road.
Upon arrival, deputies immediately began a search of the mall. spoke with witnesses, and obtained further information on the possible armed male and his whereabouts. Deputies quickly located a male matching the description and found him to be in possession of two airsoft rifles.
“The investigation revealed the male intended on returning the airsoft rifles to an airsoft gaming business located within the mall, and there was no evidence of a crime,” according to Sergeant Brent Irvine of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. “This incident did not involve an active shooter event and there were no injuries reported.”
