Multiple arrests were made on Friday during a Driving Under the Influence (DUI)/Driver’s License Checkpoint in the City of Wildomar.
The checkpoint was conducted by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Lake Elsinore Station on Clinton Keith Road and Iodine Springs Road between the hours of 8:30 p.m. and 2 a.m.
Deputies screened 560 vehicles, made six driving under the influence arrests, served four arrests for warrants, issued seven citations for unlicensed drivers and one citation for suspended license, and towed eight vehicles. A total of 32 citations were issued.
Checkpoint locations are chosen based on a history of DUI crashes and arrests. During the checkpoint, deputies look for signs that drivers are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office reminds the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol. Some prescription medications or over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving.
