The Canyon Lake POA Board on Tuesday announced that additional cameras have been installed in the community.
Additional cameras were installed at the senior center, main gate, north gate, motorcycle parking, north ski area restrooms, and dog parks.
Currently, there are approximately 300 cameras in the community and high-tech Flock Safety automated license plate reading cameras at the community entrances.
The POA also has a Camera Program, which allows residents with surveillance systems to voluntarily add themselves to a list that the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and POA may refer to if a criminal incident occurs nearby. The program aids law enforcement in solving crimes.
Residents who sign up for this program are added to a list that may be quickly referenced to identify nearby cameras that may have captured criminal activity.
Residents participating in the program would only be contacted by the POA and/or law enforcement to request permission to view the resident’s camera footage if there is a criminal incident near their security camera. Residents are not giving the POA or law enforcement access to their systems or footage, but instead agreeing to be contacted if they have a camera that may have been in the vicinity of a criminal incident. Providing any camera footage is strictly voluntary.
