Investigators are seeking additional information in a 1980 cold case homicide that has now been linked to Victoria Jean Hargrove, a 29-year-old who went missing from Alabama. More than four decades later, her identity was confirmed through forensic genetic genealogy databases.
In February 1980, motorists discovered Kargrove’s body down a ravine off Highway 74 in an unincorporated area near Palm Desert.
Investigators are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death and are working to determine how she came to California.
