The Murrieta Police Department, in collaboration with several other city and county emergency response agencies, will host the Every Fifteen Minutes Program on Thursday, April 16, at 11 a.m. at Murrieta Valley High School.
This impactful program features a reenactment of a fatal DUI traffic collision on the high school campus, which will be viewed by the sophomore, junior, and senior class students.
As part of the simulation, numerous police, fire, and ambulance personnel will be responding to Murrieta Valley High School with red lights and sirens at 11:05 a.m. There will also be a helicopter from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department landing on school grounds at 11:25 a.m. to airlift one of the “critically injured” students to a trauma center.
This emotionally charged presentation is designed to dramatically instill in teenagers the potentially dangerous consequences of drinking alcohol and using drugs. This program challenges students to think about drinking and drugs, safe operation of their vehicles, personal safety, and the responsibility of making mature decisions.
The program will conclude with a mock “funeral” on April 17 at 11 a.m., giving students a powerful and lasting perspective on the real-life consequences of impaired driving.
