The City of Canyon Lake announced that the State of California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training has officially certified the Canyon Lake Police Department as a recognized law enforcement agency in the State of California.
On April 22, City Manager Arron Brown and Police Chief Jim Rayls met with Matthew O’Deane from the State of California Peace Officer Standards and Training to review all documentation and tour the new Canyon Lake Police Station.
With this milestone, the city remains on track to transition law enforcement services from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office in early August.
The transition will continue to move forward at the May 13 city council meeting, where Chief Rayls will be officially sworn in as the first police chief and first sworn law enforcement officer of the Canyon Lake Police Department.
