Families, local businesses, vendors, and residents gathered along the waterfront on Saturday for the Lake Elsinore Eats & Beats Family Fun Fest, an event organized by Locally Rooted that transformed Elm Grove Beach into a lively community gathering filled with music, entertainment, food, and family-friendly activities.
Despite sharing the same day as local graduation celebrations, the event drew a steady stream of attendees throughout the evening, creating an atmosphere that was energetic without feeling overcrowded. According to the event organizers, the turnout struck the perfect balance, allowing guests to comfortably enjoy the activities while giving vendors meaningful opportunities to connect with the community.
Among the most popular attractions were the remote control car course, mechanical bull, gel tag arena, Hot Wheels tracks, and line dancing. The event’s DJ played a major role in keeping the energy high throughout the evening, engaging both children and adults with music, interactive games, and dancing.
Another crowd favorite was Omaha, Lake Elsinore Storm’s official Bat Dog, who drew smiles and attention from attendees of all ages. The event’s free raffle giveaways also proved to be a major hit. Thanks to generous donations from the Lake Elsinore Storm and participating vendors, approximately 100 prizes were given away throughout the event.
For Locally Rooted, this event represented more than just a day of entertainment. The organization says events like Eats & Beats directly support its mission of strengthening community connections while providing exposure and opportunities for local businesses, organizations, and entrepreneurs.
“Events like this keep dollars local, help small businesses gain exposure, and allow vendors to build relationships with residents face-to-face,” organizers explained. “Beyond the economic impact, these events strengthen the sense of community by bringing people together in one welcoming environment.”
Organizers reported overwhelmingly positive feedback from attendees. “Many attendees stopped by our information booth to express their appreciation for the event and to inquire about whether we plan to host another one next month,” organizers said. “The vendors shared their appreciation for the lakeside setting, noting that the location offered beautiful views and a scenic atmosphere that added to the overall experience.”
The choice of venue was intentional. Organizers initially considered both Downtown Main Street and Elm Grove Beach before ultimately selecting the waterfront location.
“We wanted to bring the event directly to the lake and offer attendees a true beachside experience,” organizers said. “The beautiful views of the lake and mountains enhanced the overall atmosphere and helped create a memorable community gathering.”
Looking ahead, Locally Rooted sees strong potential for the Lake Elsinore Eats & Beats Family Fun Fest to evolve into a premier monthly summer event series. Organizers noted that based on operational experience from this event, they would likely reduce the number of food trucks by four, which would allow the remaining food vendors greater sales opportunities and improved overall experience for the next event. However, doing so would reduce event revenue and place future productions near a break-even point.
Because of that reality, organizers say continued growth would likely require a partnership with the City of Lake Elsinore to help offset production costs while maintaining a smaller food vendor footprint.
Organizers praised the City of Lake Elsinore for its support throughout the planning and permitting process, describing the experience as seamless and collaborative.
“The City of Lake Elsinore was a pleasure to work with,” organizers said. “Because of this positive experience, we would welcome the opportunity to work with the city in a partnership to bring another Lake Elsinore Eats & Beats Family Fun Fest to the community.”
While the attractions, entertainment, and giveaways were highlights of the event, organizers said one of their favorite moments was simply watching families connect with one another.
“Our favorite moments from the event were simply observing people being present in the moment and watching families connect and make memories that they will carry long after the event ends,” organizers said.
“Maybe it was the lakeside setting, maybe it was the beautiful weather, but there was a noticeable sense of calm and connection throughout the day. People seemed to slow down, engage with one another, and truly enjoy the moment. It is a powerful reminder of how meaningful community gatherings can be, and how they can bring people together in a way that fosters connection, joy, and a shared sense of belonging.”
