Nine hundred drivers passed through a DUI checkpoint on June 26. Approximately 45 of them required additional assistance and evaluation, the Hemet Police Department reported.
Officers arrested on driver on suspicion of DUI, removed eight unlicensed drivers from the roadway, and issued 11 citations for various traffic violations. Several other drivers also received education on the importance of roadway safety.
Funding for this checkpoint is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
