With the renovation of the large dog park area at East Port Park nearly complete, the park has reopened.
The newly improved dog park features decomposed granite, three shade structures, dog agility equipment, three fire hydrants, pathways, a picnic table, and nine trees. The existing dog water fountain, solar lighting, and dog bag stations were used in the new design.
Benches will be added within the next couple of weeks and two of the trees that are “in shock” are being monitored, the POA said.
A ribbon-cutting will be held in the fall.
On May 4, the POA Board of Directors approved $100,706.39 from the Repair and Replacement Fund and $16,760 from the Capital Improvement Fund to upgrade the large dog park.
