Suspect in Lake Elsinore armed robbery arrested in Arizona

A Yuma County man will be extradited to Riverside County to face charges of armed robbery, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department announced. George Cardenas, 61, is accused of pointing a handgun at a convenience store clerk and taking currency from the register.

The robbery occurred on October 12 at a business in the 17600 block of Grand Avenue in the City of Lake Elsinore. Deputies from the Lake Elsinore Station’s Special Enforcement Team (SET) assumed the investigation and identified Cardenas as the suspect, officials said.

Cardenas was located at his residence in Yuma, Arizona, and arrested without incident. Items related to the robbery were found and Cardenas was booked in a Yuma County jail. He will be extradited to Riverside County to face charges of armed robbery.
